School Board Meeting Canceled Due To Lack Of Quorum

Board Had Been Scheduled To Hear Redistricting Update

 

The Groton Board of Education is expected to vote next week on a final redistricting plan for the public schools, but the board meeting Tuesday to get an update on the plan was cancelled due to lack of a quorum.

The school department canceled the meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Groton is under time pressure to have the board vote on redistricting plans this month so it finalize transportation routes, confirm staff assignments and work with students on the transition before the end of the school year.

The school department also has paperwork to file with the state to seek reimbursement for portable classrooms for Cutler and West Side middle schools.

Superintendent Paul Kadri said he would update board members by e-mail prior to the next scheduled special meeting on Monday.

He said two school board members were attending a conference in Boston that ended Monday, and two said early on they would not be able to attend.

The school department has held two of the three public meetings on redistricting, and has a third one scheduled for 6:30 p.m. toay at Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School.  Kadri said about 20 people attended each of the first two meetings.
