Sprigs & Twigs 2014 Environmental Steward Scholarship Available

The $1,000 competitive scholarship is open to SE CT high school seniors

From a press release:

Sprigs & Twigs, Inc is pleased to announce that for the fifth consecutive year, they will award a $1000 Environmental Steward Scholarship to a graduating senior from a SE Connecticut area high school

pursuing a career in Horticulture, Landscape Design or Landscape Architecture, Nursery or Greenhouse Management, Conservation, Plant Science, Botany, Environmental Studies, Turf Management,

Arboriculture, Sustainability or related. The winner of this scholarship will also qualify for a paid internship at Sprigs & Twigs, Inc during summer vacations from college and will be considered for full time employment after graduation. Steps to apply:


1.) Complete a Sprigs & Twigs, Inc. Application for Scholarship

2.) Provide an official copy of your school transcript

3.) Provide two letters of recommendation

4.) Provide a typed 1000 word (minimum) essay on one of the topic areas listed below:


• Sprigs & Twigs, Inc. is an environmentally friendly, all-organic company. Write about why those

practices are important to you, your family and your community or,


• Write a piece explaining a local environmental issue that concerns you and our community or,


• Write about why you are motivated to pursue the career path you have chosen, what or who

inspired you and what goals you have for your career after graduation or,


• Write about an interesting project that you have worked on during your high school career

relevant to this scholarship.


This $1000 highly competitive scholarship will go to a deserving student who best meets (or exceeds) the above criteria. The above listed material needs to be completed by May 1, 2014 and mailed to Sprigs & Twigs, Inc, Scholarship Program, PO Box 245, Gales Ferry, CT 06335.
