Welcome, Summer!

The Summer Solstice begins Friday just after 1 a.m. Happy Summer!

The Summer Solstice is at 1:04 a.m. Friday. The first day of the new season and throughout the weekend, it will look like the sun rises at the same spot on the horizon. Solstice is from the Latin meaning the sun stands still.

According to Earth Sky, tonight if you look low in the western sky at dusk one can see Venus and Mercury, albeit much fainter, right on the horizon.
