Today's forecast calls for a slight chance of snow before 11 a.m., with lots of blowing snow after noon. The high today will be 15 with wind chills as low as -5 given we'll have blustery, north winds up to 20 MPH with gusts to near 40.

Called Bethany by some Connecticut meteorologists and Hercules by the Weather Channel, the National Weather Service keeps it simple just calling this a winter storm.

All Groton Public Schools after school and evening programs are canceled Thursday.
City of Groton has canceled all garbage and recoiling pickup for Friday, Jan. 3. Service should resume as normal Monday, Jan. 6
