What's Happening in Groton This Week?

Holiday music, winter program signup, meetings, holiday lights and more.

No less than 15 municipal meetings are scheduled to be held this week before Christmas from the Board of Education Committee of the Whole Monday Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Valley School (with no published agenda on either the school’s or town’s website; Open Meeting Laws require agendas be published 24 hours in advance of the meeting) to the Town Council Committee of the Whole Tuesday Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall Annex Community Room 1 – here’s the agenda.   For the rest of the municipal calendar click here and for the schools calendar, click here.

The Northeast Academy Winter Concert featuring the school’s Chorus, Advanced Orchestra and some band members will be held Wednesday Dec. 18 at Fitch High School.

A Christmas Day Celebration at the Groton Senior Center sounds lovely. Also hosted by the Groton Regional Theatre, the event begins on Wednesday Dec. 25, Christmas Day, at 11:30 a.m. with a holiday dinner with all the fixings and then free bingo following. Transportation is available and reservations are required by Friday Dec. 20. Please call (860) 441-6785.

The City of Groton is extending its holiday decorating contest to include businesses. If you have decorated your home or business or if you have seen a home or business you think should be nominated for the contest, please send the name and address to holiday@cityofgroton.com. Entries must be received by December 20.

Groton Parks and Rec winter programs are filling up fast! From aquatics to Zumba, there is (seriously) something for everyone. And registering is super easy.
