The City's Highway and Sanitation Department maintains about twenty-seven miles of road and eighteen miles of…More sidewalk. The Department employs twenty-two people, including Foreman Tim Umrysz.</p> <p>The Department also handles trash collection, recycling, bulky waste, leaf collection and Christmas-tree pickup. Trash is collected twice a week; recyclables are picked up weekly. The days of collection vary by street. Bulky waste is handled by appointment only on Wednesdays, with a week's notice.</p> <p>Leaf collection takes place in the spring and fall. Leaves must be put in containers and left on the curb, not raked into the street.</p>
