The restaurant is also interested in sponsoring charitable events for local football.

Buford's Family Restaurant offers breakfast and lunch. Owned by Karen Dole since 2007, it has been in Groton forMore about 50 years. Within there are wooden tables as well as booths for seating. Black and white photographs decorate the walls.

Dole describes her restaurant as "community oriented" and notes that it gets a lot of regulars from the neighborhoods nearby. Brave diners are welcome to try "The Pancake Challenge:" finishing three plate sized pancakes in order to win a free meal and getting their photo up on a poster board inside. Other meals include omelets, breakfasts sandwiches, deli sandwiches and ice cream.

The restaurant also offers a catering service, which  can do anything from wraps and sandwiches to beef and chicken dishes. Buford's can provide staff for the event. 

Norm's Diner

Norm's Diner has been in Groton since 1960. With its metal siding, booths, jukebox and bar-stools running along theMore Formica counter, the place retains the flavor of 1950s Americana. For those looking for a late night bite, the diner is open all hours.

Customers can order egg omelets or pancakes for breakfast with a side order of hash browns. Lunch options include the Rose Burger and Norm's Pick, a six-ounce ribeye steak, served on a hard roll, with fries. For dessert, the diner has pie, ice cream and pudding. Military service personnel receive a 10% discount.

Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar

The Groton Applebee's comes with two large dining areas, including soft booths and a bar with beer on tap. The wallsMore are covered with memorabilia from the area including many photographs of the Sub Base. The restaurant stays involved with the community in hosting charity pancake breakfasts three weekends out of the month.

Customers can order entrees such as the Sizzling Asian Shrimp, Bourbon Street Steak or Sizzling Skillet Fajitas. Generally, not the kind of place for light eating, Applebee's does maintain an under 550 calorie section of its menu that includes Asagio Peppercorn Steak and Asian Cruch Salad. Some diet-busting desert options include several types of sundaes and apple pie. Other meals include pasta, sandwiches, burgers and sliders.

For customers on the move Applebee's offers "Carside To Go," where they can call in an order and have a member of the staff bring it out to their vehicle.
