The 32.9-acre park includes three baseballMore fields, two softball fields, playground equipment, tennis courts, basketball hoops and outdoor pavilions. The park also features a workers' memorial, honoring those who have died or been injured on the job. George Marquardt donated the land for Washington Park Dec. 31, 1931 to residents of the City of Groton.

The park also features a Workers' Memorial, honoring those who have died or been injured on the job.</p> <p>George Marquardt donated the land for the park to residents of the City of Groton on Dec. 31, 1931.</p>

The city parks department maintains Washington Park, Eastern Point Beach and other smaller parks, including the BirchMore Plain Creek Nature Area. The department, led by Mary Hill, runs seasonal recreation programs including a summer playground program, a tennis program for youth, swim lessons at Eastern Point Beach, a fall soccer league and winter sports.</p> <p>Washington Park offers recreation facilities, including five baseball or softball fields,  six tennis courts, a skating pond,  playground equipment, basketball courts and picnic shelters.</p>
