After having their children, Millie and her husband made the decision to move closer to family and chose to settle in Pawcatuck, Conn. Like all young families life is full balancing work, school, family obligations, music lessons, little league and dance recitals.
Luckily this busy life takes place along the beautiful shorelines of Rhode Island and Connecticut. With breathtaking beaches, gorgeous sky scapes and friendly little villages, there has never been a lack of inspiration. She continues to work as a painter and mixed-media artist and shares work space with a group of artists at Above Elite Studios (181 Main Street, Westerly, RI).
Although Millie is not a native of Connecticut, she has made this her home and has a passion for the communities she lives and works in. She is a member of the Mystic Art Center, an associate member of the Artist Cooperative Gallery of Westerly and resident artist at Above Elite Studios. Her work has been displayed throughout the area from local coffee shops to the Artist Cooperative Gallery of Westerly in RI the Mystic Art Center in Mystic, CT and the Hygienic Art Park in New London, CT. As a designer, she has donated her skills to organizations like the Stonington Community Center as well as local business associations. Most of all, she enjoys managing venues which have allowed for emerging artists to show their work creating a dialogue between artists and patrons.
Millie has a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and an M.F.A. in graphic designer from RIT in Rochester, NY. Her career includes marketing and event planning, web and print design and associate professor while at RIT. She held a part-time position as a framer and gallery assistant at the Mystic Seaport where she rediscovered her love of the fine arts after having worked in the corporate world for 10 years. Now she enjoys the time that she gets in the studio as she continues to develop as a painter, freelance graphic designer and poet.
