Planning Meeting - For Public Input

The following excerpts are from an article in MRP on 5/13/13.....

GROTON – The town is looking for your input to help shape the direction of Groton for the next decade. That opportunity comes on May 15, at 6 p.m., when the Steering Committee for the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development will present its work to the public. The sole purpose of the meeting will be to solicit input from residents regarding things such as land use, natural resources, cultural values, housing and transportation, to name a few.

“We will share with the community what we have discovered thus far, solicit thoughts and feedback, and that will provide the input to further refine the plan,” said Bill Johnson, a member of the committee. Committee members will show their conclusions to date and consultants will review changes that have occurred in Groton since the last plan was approved in 2002.

“It's a very comprehensive document,” said Johnson. “The nature of it is to determine the things we want to focus on, what we want to develop and what are our areas of interest.. It could be recreation, open space, single family housing or anything else.” Informational tables will also be available and attendees can submit comments to project staff. The meeting will be televised on delay by local cable access televisio
